Improving access to pain relief and palliative care in Africa

There are 21 million children worldwide with conditions that would benefit from a palliative care approach. Over half of these children live in Africa. Around 45% of African countries have little or no palliative care provision. We are working with our African partners to change this.

We focus our funding in Africa on work to improve access to palliative care for adults and children, prioritising the need for appropriate pain relief and the integration of palliative care services into established health systems.
